Empowered Woman

Empowered Woman

August is Woman’s Month in South Africa. From being a 1-day celebration in the past, it has now been accepted (maybe not officially) that August is our month to celebrate who we are as women.

It got me thinking about why we need to dedicate a certain day or month to celebrate who we are as no matter which day or month it is; we are still gifted, talented, multi-faceted beings who have so much value in our society. As women we are amazing companions, lovers, confidants; as daughters and mothers we are caring, nurturing, gentle and kind; at work we are efficient, reliable, creative and innovative…and the list goes on.

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines empower “to enable, to promote the self-actualization or influence of”.

With all the different roles we play in our daily lives, we need to nurture and look after ourselves first. Our families rely on us more than what we realise – I had a direct experience over this last weekend. I was having a tough day on Sunday as so many variables in my life are unknown at this point in time. Usually I am upbeat and positive and that day was one of the rare days I was not feeling strong. So I gave myself permission to be with whatever was showing up. My two children came to visit (they are 18 and 20 years old)…and their concern for me was very touching. I realised that as a mom they look to me for guidance, support and attitude and how important the role of mom actually is. As moms we are the at the hub of the caring, nurturing, support centre of the family. When we are up or down within ourselves, it directly affects the rest of the family (and others around us too).

What does the have to do with wealth and abundance? Everything!

When we tap into the wealth we have within us as a woman with all our facets; we bring an abundance of joy, laughter, creativity, emotional balance, harmony etc to those around us. We need to treasure who we are in every moment of every day…whatever that moment brings…and we will have inner wealth far beyond our imagination. Our inner world creates our outer reality – so when we have, recognize and own our treasure of inner wealth it will reflect in our outer world too!
