Communicating with our Inner Being
In a world where so much of our attention is focussed on things outside of us, we forget that we have all the wisdom we seek inside of us.
When we were young children, we were naturally connected to this part of us that lives within. We lived in the moment, had excitement, curiosity and child-like fun and joy; as the present moment was the only thing that was real.
I was born in the 60’s and it was easier to stay connected to my inner Being. We did not have cell phones, TV or computers and games. We were in tune with the rhythm of the day and lived both indoors and outdoors, happy because we were in our imaginations and the world of make-believe.
And now it has been necessary to re-visit and rekindle that magical world of make-believe. This is what keeps our purpose / dream / goal alive within us. It is being able to tap into the unseen world and instinctively know what is appropriate and what action follows an insight we get. This insight is only possible through becoming still, connecting with the heart – which we are still naturally connected to when young – and tapping into its innate wisdom. After all, this is where our Inner Being resides and from where all knowledge and wisdom flows. It is both possible and necessary whether we are entrepreneur and self-employed or an employee and in a regular job. It is what helped me to leave a 23-year career as an optometrist and open my own business and still be here 9 years later!
So in a world where more, faster, shiny-coin-syndrome (ooh, look at this and a few minutes later ooh, look at that) realities seem the norm; the courage to disengage and to become still and go within is what each of us needs.
And yet so few of us do it on a consistent basis.
It takes courage and discipline to stop the distraction, put away the phone, get off social media and away from the computer and literally become still, quieten the mind and just let the natural rhythm of the Inner Being reveal itself through the heart.
Did this come easily and quickly?
Not as quickly as instant gratification. It came with practice. The more I practiced, the easier and more fluid it became. So now it is a natural thing for me to sit quietly for about 5 – 15 minutes a day as often as needed. If the weather is good, I do this while I am out on a walk and being in nature.
When do I do it more often?
The busier I get, the more I feel that regular alignment with my Inner Being and my purpose / dream / goal is required. The busier I get, the more still I get and then flow and resulting inspired action happens naturally.
It took trial and error to learn how my Inner Being communicates with me and how I can effectively communicate with it and ask the correct kind of questions.
It is from my personal experience that I have turned this skill into a truly effective tool and is taught in the Advanced 1 workshop. The practical exercises are based on what I have learned and implemented and still use every day in my life.
